MI ranks No. 15 in Baseball America preseason poll
In addition to the Baseball America rankings, the Cowboys and Horned Frogs are also ranked in the D1Baseball preseason poll and on the Collegiate Baseball preseason top 40 list.
Kay was one of five Huskies named to The American Preseason All-Conference squad and earned distinction as the No. 23 player on Baseball American’s Top 100 College Draft Prospects in early January. The outburst pushed him to 33rd among Division I hitters in home runs and the 14 round-trippers were ninth-most in program history. Virginia, Oregon State, Miami, Vanderbilt, California, Oklahoma State and UCLA rounded out the Top 10. N.C. State will start the season ranked 19th.
The Maroon and White also return a wealth of talent on the mound, including starting pitchers Kyle Simonds (3-2, 2.39 ERA), Tyler Stubblefield (0-0, 5.25 ERA – missed four months with injury) and Turner Larkins (5-1, 3.96 ERA). Alemais finished the 2015 season with a. 312 batting average with 43 runs, 78 hits, 11 doubles, three triples, one home run, 22 RBI, 16 walks and 27 stolen bases.
