Bill de Blasio blames the victims of
Mayor de Blasio, sensing growing frustration in the borough, visited 47th Ave.in Corona and 25th Ave.in Elmhurst Sunday, pledging to clear the streets of the mess. The Parks Department on Sunday sent a plow truck here, but the snow is so high it got stuck.
Among other deaths attributed to the storm was that of a man in North Carolina who stopped to help a motorist whose vehicle had veered off an icy road.
“Through the hard work of NYC & Company, and their support of the City’s various attractions-from restaurants to the performing arts and more – 2015 marked a new milestone for NYC tourism”.
Lancman also pointed out that the city’s PlowNYC program wrongly stated that some streets had been cleared.
De Blasio says New York City residents should leave their cars where they are if they can.
“We have a plow stuck on my block for going on 12 hours blocking traffic”, said Alex Blenkinsopp, 31, a lifelong Woodhaven resident who lives on 96th Street. (D-Howard Beach) in a statement said the mayor has “failed to see how unsafe it is to have our children attend school on Monday”. As I took my girls to school Monday morning, I witnessed both road and school rage.
“This Administration promised that the streets were going to be cleaned and plowed by this morning, but this is not the case”.
De Blasio vowed that the city would take lessons from the storm.
“We were the forgotten borough once again”.
Longtime Bayside resident Janet McEneaney said the slow response is causing hazardous conditions in her neighborhood. But then de Blasio went and blamed the victim. Many streets in Queens were still buried in snow on Monday morning.
Mayor de Blasio later balked at a reporter’s question about whether, considering the situation in Queens, praise for city workers might be a bit premature.
On a related note, City Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Queens) asked why the Department of Education gave the OK for all schools to open Monday when it was practically impossible to move in much of Queens.
