Xiaomi Mi 5 tipped to launch on 24 February
Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphone is the Mi 5 and there have been leaks about the device for many months. Buyers outside China will need to wait longer, as Xiaomi doesn’t usually launch its flagship smartphones soon after they go on sale in the Chinese market.
In early January we reported on leaks suggesting that the Xiaomi Mi 5 would launch in February, and the company has now confirmed it will be officially announced on February 24.
The device has been teased a number of times hinting the launch date and availability.

The electronics maker further reveals that 2016 will also be about some ‘core components of breakthroughs in key technologies; exploring the establishment of millet (Xiaomi) laboratories, research VR / robots and other cutting-edge technology’. The phone is now under mass production. This is to ensure that there will sufficient number of units available for the customers by the time the device is launched. You can expect the Xiaomi Mi 5 price to be under $400 for the 64 GB model.
It is expected to come out in 5.2inch screen display with full HD resolution resulting to 565ppi, and a 2.5D glass back covering. The handset is said to run an Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 7. The phone will reportedly come with a 3,600 mAh battery (non-removable) which will support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 standard.
