Clinton, Sanders make their cases in Iowa
To review the premises of these questions: Clinton doesn’t inspire passionate support, isn’t honest and trustworthy (a perception that consistently shows up in polls) and isn’t as authentic as top rival Sen.
“We are touching a nerve with the American people who understand that establishment politics is just not good enough”, he said.
“It feels like there are a lot of young people, like myself, who are very passionate supporters of Bernie Sanders and I just don’t see the same enthusiasm from younger people for you”. And, in terms of the campaign to come – in Iowa and elsewhere – the clip speaks to not only the difficulties people are still facing in this economy but also how they believe Sanders is speaking to their fears and anxieties. They make these charges. “I just keep going forward because there’s nothing to it. They throw all this stuff at me, and I’m still standing”.
Despite the uncomfortable exchange, Clinton launched into a lengthy, animated response, highlighting her record as a progressive.
The campaign of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton has attacked her opponent’s health plan for tax hikes, a charge Sanders Monday night called “unfair criticism” because his plan would ultimately save people money. He argued that though Clinton has wide experience, she was wrong on key issues.
Sanders cited Clinton’s 2002 Senate vote to authorize the Iraq war and her prior support for the Canada-to-Texas Keystone Pipeline as evidence that her experience is misguided.

“Experience is important, but it is not the only thing”, Sanders said.
The Vermont senator said his plan would raise taxes, but he quickly added that Americans and their employers would also see a substantial savings because they would no longer have to pay insurance companies for their healthcare coverage.
Commenting on suggestions that Mr Sanders – who has focused heavily on economic issues – is not a well-rounded candidate, Mr Obama said he was not going to dish out advice.
And to fund it, he pledged, “We will raise taxes”.
Later, when Cuomo said Sanders was 75 years old, the senator raised his voice to correct the record – “74!” he said with a smile.
The truth is it is relatively easy for a powerful nation like America to overthrow a dictator but it is very hard to predict the unintended consequences and the turmoil and the instability that follows after you overthrow that dictator. “Not a great runner, but captain of my track team”, he went on making his case that he has been – and is still – in good health. What he meant to say is that “sometimes the base of the organization looks at the world a little bit differently than the leadership”, suggesting that leaders are supporting frontrunner Clinton over the objections of their membership.
