Apple working on new 4-inch iPhone
Apple is said to be launching a new handset called the iPhone 5SE that sports a 4-inch screen and a slew of new features, such as curved edges and the Live Photos feature. As a result, the smaller phone will offer the same always-on “Hey Siri” voice activation introduced with the iPhone 6s.
Additionally, it appears that Apple is now considering just two storage options for the iPhone 5se, namely 16GB and 64GB.
Earlier, there were numerous rumours about the Cupertino-based company releasing a new 4-inch model, which was speculated to be named iPhone 6c or iPhone 5e. The old 4-inch phone screen size was last seen on the iPhone 5s.
According to those sources, the so-called “iPhone 5SE” will look and act a lot like a downsized iPhone 6.
The supposed iPhone 5se, right, next to an iPhone 5.
The new device has been codenamed “N69”, but the name with which it may launch is most likely to be the “iPhone 5se”. The phone apparently won’t inherit the pressure-sensitive 3D Touch display from the 6S, and it will include a headphone jack that may be missing from the upcoming “iPhone 7”.
Why this matters: Even though phablet-sized smartphones are starting to take over, there are still people who prefer having a phone they can fully hold in their hands.
Color options will be the same as the iPhone 6s line with Rose Gold also being available. It runs on A8 and M8 chips similar to the IPhone 6, has an NFC chip for Apple Pay and it also has a barometer to track elevation in the Health App.
The biggest proportion in Apple sales come from iPhones and the company wants to sell more of it. The company also wants high margin products and turnover.
Further in the report by 9to5Mac, it is said that Apple could also look to launch the iPad Air 3 at the same event around September but could change their minds later on.
