Microsoft Wants to Bring Its Wacky One-Handed Keyboard to iPhones
‘Word Flow keyboard has always been one of the highly praised features on Windows Phone and was used to break the Guinness World Record for fastest texting.
Windows 10 Mobile does have a one-handed mode, but it is not a major redesign like the fan style layout.
Back in 2012, Microsoft noodled around with a similar concept, in which the keyboard was also angled and designed for users to type with their thumb while holding the device with one hand, according to a post by WMPowerUser. Earlier this month it was learned that Microsoft was planning to produce a version of this keyboard for iOS and Android, after e-mailed invitations were sent to some Windows Insiders. Check out the screenshot below… As years passed, the keyboard never saw the light of day, prompting many to believe that the project was scrapped by the tech giant, or that the rumor was entirely fake.
Microsoft is reported to be working on the iOS version of its popular Word Flow keyboard that would include a unique arrangement of the keys facilitating one-handed typing operations.
Word Flow is one of the headline features of Windows Phone. With one tap on the keyboard, users can toggle between the one-handed mode and the more traditional keyboard display.
It is slightly differed from the company’s Word Flow keyboard wherein the keys just shift to a side. Do you think your native iOS keyboard could use improvement?’ The email further states that Microsoft is ‘working on extending the keyboard to other platforms, starting with iOS’. However, an Android version is nearly a surety thereafter. The additional feature will not go down well with those now using Windows 10 Mobile.
Add this to Microsoft’s growing list of excellent iOS apps.
