The midrange Apple phone will be named ‘iPhone 5SE’
With the larger performance upgrade, the iPhone 5se will more than likely take the place of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus when the iPhone 7 arrives this fall, similar to the iPhone 5c.
The “se” will reportedly stand for “iPhone 5S “enhanced” or ‘special edition”.
Apple is rumored to be releasing a new IPhone model, a 4-incher dubbed the IPhone 5se.
It’s also rumoured to be working on a 4-inch version of the iPhone, which is said to be called the 5se which will be announced in March, a departure for the company as it announces its phones in September. Some of the expected features of the 4-inch iPhone include Apple’s A8 processor; barometer sensor; NFC chip; an 8-megapixel back camera; and a 1.2-megapixel front camera.
Apple tapped into an important market when it launched its 6 and 6 Plus bigger screen models during 2014, which helped them grab the attention of customers in Asia, who previously grabbed phablets from competitors like Samsung. The shiny edges of the iPhone 5S will be replaced by curved glass edges in the upcoming iPhone 5SE, and the same Silver, Space Gray, Gold, & Rose Gold color options will be provided to users.
An image has made its way online that claims to show the iPhone 5se next to the iPhone 5. Besides, Apple’s latest phone is likely to be priced relatively cheaper than the company’s high-end flagship models such as iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.
Additionally, it appears that Apple is now considering just two storage options for the iPhone 5se, namely 16GB and 64GB.
Apple is expected to sell 54.6 million iPhones in the March 2016 quarter, according to FactSet. A possible iPad Air 3 may be included in the roster but what’s not clear is, whether the company intends to hold a live event or if it will simply launch the new products on its website. The report goes so far as to say that the new model of iPhone will be unveiled in March, alongside the equally unconfirmed Apple Watch 2.
