Weather Channel Meteorologist Died of Brain Trauma
A longtime Weather Channel meteorologist died in a crash inside an Atlanta parking garage Sunday.
Nicholas Wiltgen died of head and brain trauma after his vehicle slammed into a Colony Square parking garage Sunday night. Police said that his vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it broke through a wall and ended up inside the neighboring W Hotel. A worker on the other side of the wall in a storage area suffered non-life-threatening injuries. That’s what the Weather Channel had to say after the death of a senior meteorologist in Atlanta.

After the crash, police said Wiltgen (pictured) may have suffered a heart attack at the wheel. His most recent job was senior digital meteorologist. “He was also a familiar face on air, appearing on The Weather Channel from time to time to discuss a story featured in a digital package”.
Wiltgen received a bachelor’s degree in meteorology in 1998 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, according to the university. Nick was only 39 years old and had a great passion and dedication to our craft.
Clayton released a statement to People magazine surrounding the death of his fellow colleague.
“We have lost a treasured member of The Weather Channel family”, Clayton said.

“Millions read his work every week and were better for it”. “Our heartfelt sympathy is with his family and friends”, the statement concluded.
Al Roker, co-anchor of NBC’s TODAY Show, said on Twitterhis thoughts and prayers were with Wiltgen’s family.
