Matthew Perry: I Don’t Remember 3 Seasons of Friends
Matthew Perry’s longstanding battle with substance abuse has been highly documented in the media.
According to Matthew Perry, however, some of Chandler’s biggest life moments barely registered with the actor due to his drug and alcohol addiction.
In 2013, Perry candidly discussed his substance abuse with People, describing his “Friends” experience during the series’ 10-year run. “Somewhere between seasons three and six”.
When Evans asked him which episode was his least favourite, Perry replied: “I think the answer is, I don’t remember three years of it, so none of those”. “I think the answer is ‘I don’t remember three years of it'”.
The “Odd Couple” star, who entered rehab during Season 7 of “Friends”, has been candid about his struggles with addiction to Vicodin and alcohol. “It was actually a very lonely time for me because I was suffering from alcoholism”. Perry, who is now 46, is now sober, and even turned his beach home in Malibu into a sober living facility.
Perry is now in London rehearsing his new play The End of Longing which will open on February 2, while his former castmates Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow all hung out together on Sunday at a tribute event for legendary director, James Burrows. “I don’t know about a movie”, like the “Entourage” or “Sex and the City” films.
“Eventually things got so bad I couldn’t hide it and everybody knew”, he said.
Asked about the prospect of all six cast members together, NBC’s Robert Greenblatt previously admitted: “We are hoping that all six of them will be in the same room at the same time, but I’m not sure we can logistically pull that off”. We’ve talked about it a little bit, over dinner…
