Blake Griffin Breaks Hand Throwing a Punch, Out 4-6 Weeks
Griffin may have broken his right hand after reportedly hitting a Clippers equipment staff member multiple times in Toronto. It turns out that Griffin only has himself to blame, possibly fracturing his hand after hitting a member of the Clipper’s equipment staff according to ESPN. Instead, according to ESPN, Griffin’s latest injury will keep him out “a matter of weeks, as opposed to days”.
A team statement released later Tuesday confirmed Griffin’s injury and said an investigation into the circumstances of the incident was under way.
Los Angeles Clippers superstar, Blake Griffin, has missed the last 15 games with a partially torn quadriceps.
The Clippers are 11-3 without Griffin and sit in fourth in the Western Conference, but this is still bad news for the team.
L.A. had previously announced that Griffin had hurt his hand in an “undisclosed team-related incident”. Michael Eaves reports the staffer’s face was injured and had to be treated at a hospital.
Griffin received X-rays on January 25 in Los Angeles that revealed the injury, the team said.
On top of the time Griffin will miss while recovering from the broken hand there is a very realistic possibility that he will be suspended by the team, the league, or both.
The Clippers’ Blake Griffin, left, sits on the bench with assistant coach Sam Cassell during a game earlier this month.
The alleged incident happened in a Toronto restaurant Saturday night. A West Hollywood man accused Griffin of snatching his cellphone and grabbing him after the man took a picture of Clippers players at the Tao nightclub in Las Vegas last October.
It’s unclear why Blake Griffin was fighting with a staff member from the Los Angeles Clippers over dinner on Monday night.
However, the misdemeanor battery case was later dropped after prosecutors decided there was insufficient evidence.
