Child accidentally shoots 7-year-old boy inside car
The child then tried to unload the gun when it accidentally discharged, striking the 7-year-old boy.
Crossville Police described the incident as a “tragic accidental shooting”.
The boy’s mother and stepfather were inside a local business paying a bill as four children were left unattended in the vehicle, according to a release from the Crossville Police Department.
A 7-year-old boy is dead after being shot in the head by a sibling when their parents left them alone in the vehicle Monday afternoon in Tennessee, WBIR reports. The boy was struck in the head, NBC affiliate WBIR reported.
He was airlifted to Knoxville, but did not survive. The Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office and the Department of Children’s Services are also involved in the police investigation.
