Heat Advisory in effect for parts of Siouxland
With high temperatures and humidity in the weekend forecast, a heat advisory has been issued.
It was just the humidity though, the actual air temperature itself was downright hot!
We have excessive heat warnings and heat advisories today, as “feels like” temps will get over 110.
Walking outside Friday you may have noticed temperatures were on the hot side. That is due to the abundant moisture which tends to mitigate the heating, somewhat, although the heat/humidity combination more than makes up for that. We’ll fall into the low 80s by 10 PM and bottom out in the mid and upper 70s by dawn Saturday.
Little change is expected for the second half of the weekend as highs once again top out in the upper 90s with heat indices expected to be between 100-108 degrees. So, not too much in the way of ventilation provided by those southerly breezes either. That, in turn, means at least a possibility of scattered showers or storms. Omaha topped out at 98 degrees Friday afternoon, the hottest reading in almost two years. However, medical officers say many Manitobans are not acclimatized to this kind of weather, and need to be vigilant about staying cool.
