Netflix has no geoblocks at USA military bases
But now you can literally browse Netflix content across the globe with a handy database on the Unofficial Netflix Online Global Search (uNoGS) site.
In the past, many viewers have turned to virtual private networks (VPNs) or proxies to appear as though they’re watching Netflix from within other countries in order to bypass the licencing laws.
The Unofficial Netflix Online Global Search (or uNoGS) is an online searchable database of the videos available in the 244 regions where Netflix is now available.
According to website Netflixable, which tracks new titles as they are released to Netflix in each region, Netflix’s U.S. catalogue is nearly three times as large as Australia’s, at about 6900 titles compared to about 2500.
Melbourne-based proxy service uFlix, which uses “smart DNS” technology to trick Netflix into thinking you’re based in the United States, said it was “still digging into” the detail of the issue but things were up and running again for its customers. Once the user finds what they want to watch, they simply need to use a cheap VPN service to fake the right country and – voila! – they can stream the content of their choice.
TorrentFreak spoke with the creator of uNoGS operator, Brian.
With the application of commercial blacklist data Netflix blocks IP-addresses that are linked to such services. “I initially built the site just for myself because the few sites that were providing a service like this were extremely limited in terms of search functionality”.
“Netflix always exempts US military bases around the world”.
