Wonderful Life singer Colin Vearncombe dies following car accident
Prolific British singer-songwriter Colin Vearncombe, better known by his stage name, Black, has passed away from head injuries sustained in a serious road accident just over two weeks ago, it has been confirmed.
Vearncombe was placed in an induced coma after the accident but his condition subsequently deteriorated badly, according to a Facebook update posted on Sunday. “For a long time, I would find myself hearing ‘I like it, but it’s not ‘Wonderful Life“, says Colin. “26/5/1962-26/1/2016. Staff at Cork University Hospital battled to save the Wonderful Life singer’s life, but the swelling on his brain eventually cost him his life.

Born in Liverpool, the “Paradise” hit-maker had his first gig on the New Year’s Day, 1982 and his debut single “Human Features” was released the same year.
Colin was said to have died peacefully with his family at his bedside “who were singing him on his way”.
The funeral will be a private one and a memorial service is being planned in Liverpool in the near future with a charity for donations in his memory to be announced.
As well as releasing many albums, he also spent time on poetry and art. His most recent album Blind Faith, which was funded by a highly successful Pledge Music campaign, was released to a very positive critical reaction in 2015.
Colin Vearncombe enjoyed mainstream success in the late 1980s under the name Black when “Wonderful Life” became a massive hit worldwide.
