Nestlé Waters North America has already given five truckloads, or more than 190,000 bottles, to Flint community organizations since October 2015. The effort will be part of the 2016 Meridian Winter Blast which runs February 12-14 in Campus Martius park.

A coalition of activists filed a new action in federal court Wednesday morning, asking a judge to rule that MI has repeatedly violated the Safe Drinking Water Act and to order the state to quickly replace all lead service lines in Flint.

The hip-hop star has revealed his younger sibling and her family are among those affected by the scandal in Flint, where residents have to drink bottled water because the mains source comes from a contaminated river.

They note that special counsel Todd Flood, a lawyer and former prosecutor, donated thousands of dollars to the political campaigns of Republican Attorney General Bill Schuette and Republican Gov. Rick Snyder. Schuette also said Monday that having special counsel will prevent conflicts of interest since the attorney general’s office also will defend the state against lawsuits brought by Flint residents.

Schuette declined to say how much the outside investigators will be paid. Port Clinton’s water testing schedule follows in-line with Ohio’s Environmental Protection Agency’s monitoring schedule, he said.
