Second Teen Dies After Drinking Racing Fuel And Mountain Dew
Two Tennessee teenagers are dead after drinking what police believe to have been a concoction of racing fuel and Mountain Dew soda, according to local reports.
One teen, 16-year-old Logan Stephenson, was found unresponsive in his home in Greenbrier and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are waiting for autopsy reports from the medical examiner’s office that will determine cause of death, Smith said.
According to WZTV, the second victim died on Monday afternoon. “We ask that everyone continue to pray for both of these families as they go through this tragic time”. Police said two other teens have confessed to drinking the toxic mixture.
Police are warning teens not to drink the mixture.
Racing fuel has a very high alcohol content, and can be fatal if consumed.
“You will not be in trouble with law enforcement if you were present at this gathering”, police said.
Heath workers are not aware of how prevalent Dewshine consumption is among Tennesseans, Seger said.
“If you know someone who may have consumed a similar mixture the police department urges you to seek medical attention at once”, the Greenbrier Police Department said in a statement.
The investigation into the teen deaths is continuing. They suspect both teens drank the Mountain Dew mixed with racing fuel.
The Stephenson family is collecting funds in Logan’s memory with a GoFundMe page, saying they will use the funds to educate teens and families about substance-abuse dangers.
