Snapchat leak hints at a bid to fight Facebook Messenger
Other publications observed that the new Snapchat features could make the app more competitive with other messaging apps, as well as enable new ways to generate revenue. The influence of Facebook’s chat app is most apparent in the redesigned interface for sending messages.
“Chat V2” is similar to the video calling feature that first became available on Facebook.
The release date for the alleged Snapchat update is now unknown, but it may not be very far as the code for the changes already exists in the application.
Snapchat is testing video calling, audio calling and stickers within its chat feature, according to leaked screenshots. You can also see if the person on the receiving end of the call is “live” on the app, via smiling emoticons. Like Messenger, a row of inline icons along the bottom of the chat panel, allowing the user to send snaps, use emojis and start a video call. It would seem that the developers behind the selfie-exchanging service are also thinking of adopting actual chat messaging; this has been hinted at after the developers noticed the introduction of Snapchat’s emojis into them altogether.
The chat presence alert now has a blue button, which shows a smiley face and will turn into a blue dot.
There is a bar above the text box allows users to initiate the call, either audio or video.
The messaging app Snapchat appears to be working on several new features that could result in a dramatically different experience for users.
Snapchat might have some new features and other than the stickers, the audio calling and the improved video calling, other features will include the possibility of sharing images and digital sketches from the photo gallery of the smartphones. Instead, the company made it clear that it began saving the data that passes through and that it now owns pictures and videos that are and will be sent through its service.
As of right now the code found by Snapprefes only works on devices running on the latest Android version, Marshmellow.
