Woman shot and killed after rejecting man’s advances at a bar
According to a report via CBS, cops said Janese Jackson-Talton was approached by McKinney before closing time with the woman continuing to ignore his advances. He then followed her outside and shot her in the chest.
Charles McKinney is accused of killing 29-year-old Janese Talton outside a Pittsburgh bar early Friday morning after she rejected his advances. “Police were talking with McKinney when they received a dispatch that a woman had been shot in the area”.
Police told reporters they heard gunfire around 1:50 a.m, but encountered McKinney shortly after during a routine traffic stop. The chief also told police they should chase vehicles only if people were suspected of violent felonies. Upon hearing that information, the driver sped off and a police chase ensued. McKinney fled again in the auto, according to the documents, and officers fired at him. During the chase which went through Wilkinsburg, Penn Hills and back through Wilkinsburg, officers fired upon McKinney; he finally stopped after crashing his auto into an unoccupied parked vehicle along McNary Boulevard.
He was then taken into custody.
He said police also found a gun on him.
Along with the murder charge, he’s facing charges including aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, drug possession, fleeing police, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
The two officers involved in shooting the suspect are now on administrative leave while the District Attorney’s Office investigates the incident.
A lawyer for McKinney couldn’t immediately be reached for comment Monday night.
