Amazon is teasing its first-ever Super Bowl ad
In a teaser released by the company today (Jan. 27), actor Alec Baldwin and football legend Dan Marino brainstorm ideas for what promises to be an epic Super Bowl bash complete with snacks, cheerleaders, and a five-star chef.
While the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos prepare to face off at Super Bowl 50, e-commerce giant Amazon is readying for a game-day push of its own.
“Echo has had an unbelievable reception from customers over the past year-they love it”, Neil Lindsay, vice president of Amazon Devices, said in a statement.
Alexa: “A stadium built entirely of snacks”.
Amazon makes its Super Bowl debut in a year when the price of a 30-second ad slot has soared to $5 million on average.
Amazon’s ad effort is reminiscent of the spot from Apple that launched in 2012 and tapped celebrities including Samuel L. Jackson and Zooey Deschanel to hawk the value of Siri, the digital helper that comes packaged into many iPhone models. Amazon is also planning to release two additional teasers prior to the big game on February 7.
This is the first in a series of videos that’ll be pushed by Amazon to bring you into the understanding that you need an Amazon Echo device.
