Trump ditching Iowa debate
Trump, the leading candidate for the Republican nomination, said Tuesday that he would not participate in Thursday night’s GOP debate to be hosted by Fox News days before the Iowa caucuses.
The news comes as Trump has been feuding with Fox News over debate moderator Megyn Kelly, posting in an Instagram video today that “Megyn Kelly’s really biased against me”.
“Mostly likely, I’m not going to do the debate”, Trump said responding to ABC’s question.
The seventh Republican primary debate airs Thursday on the Fox News Channel – and for many viewers it was expected to be Round 2 of Donald Trump vs. Megyn Kelly.
Arguing Fox News’ ratings had skyrocketed and the channel was “making tens of millions of dollars on debates,” Trump said he would hold a separate debate in Iowa to raise money for veterans and wounded soldiers.
US Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump withdrew on Tuesday from a debate with party rivals this week out of anger at host Fox News, leaving the last encounter before Iowa’s pivotal nominating contest without the front-runner.
Trump has been feuding with Fox News since the network put on the first debate in August, when Kelly asked Trump about his treatment of women, prompting a stream of insults from the candidate and complaints of not being treated fairly.
I’m afraid I have to agree that it doesn’t make the NY tough guy look quite so tough. Trump has insisted he meant her nose and ears, while many speculated the remark was a reference to Kelly’s gender and menstruation.
One day after publicly duking it out, Donald Trump and Fox News have retreated to their corners. There have already been six debates, and according to all online debate polls including Drudge, Slate, Time Magazine, and many others, Mr. Trump has won all of them, in particular the last one.
Beck warned “with as much conviction as I warned in 1999 about Osama Bin Laden attacking NYC” that Trump is a “dangerous man”.
“We can’t give in to terrorizations toward any of our employees”, Fox said in a statement.
“With me, they’re dealing with somebody that’s a little bit different”. I don’t know what games Roger Ailes is playing or what’s wrong over there…
Trump has been engaged in a spat with Fox News since a year ago, sparked by what he saw us unfair questioning by anchor Megyn Kelly.
At the time of this writing, Trump has not yet commented on the latest statement accusing his campaign manager of threatening Kelly. Let them have the debate. Marco Rubio, neurosurgeon Ben Carson, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Kentucky Sen.
By 7:20 p.m., Cruz was in front of a packed town hall in Fairfield, Iowa, delivering a long and well-prepared tirade of Trump’s decision.
