Gregg Popovich takes swipe at Cavs’ firing of David Blatt
While the Golden State Warriors have the best record in the league at 41-4, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is ineligible to coach in the All-Star Game because he coached a year ago and there’s a rule against coaching in back-to-back All-Star Games.
Out in California, the Golden State Warriors, who play their home games in Oakland of all places, a market that both the Athletics and Raiders are trying desperately to get out of as soon as they can, are the state’s top team. TNT will televise the All-Star Game in the US for the 14th consecutive year, marking Turner Sports’ 31st year of NBA All-Star coverage. Lue’s lack of experience could be a problem come playoff time when the Cavaliers try to find a way to navigate their way to an National Basketball Association championship.
Popovich will be coaching his star player Kawhi Leonard in the All-Star Game.
During Cavs GM David Griffin’s press conference to discuss Blatt’s firing last week, Griffin said he was not happy with what he saw in the locker room after games. It isn’t easy to make a change like Cleveland did at this point and any lack of immediate results or further stumbles the rest of the way will stand out that much more as a result of the coaching change.
Yelling didn’t really help things for Gregg Popovich against the Warriors.
