The market forces behind insane Super Bowl prices
The game will be played in Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
While the Broncos have undoubtedly been one of the most successful franchises in National Football League history when it comes to getting to the Super Bowl, their fortunes have not been almost as prosperous when it comes to winning on the game’s biggest stage.
According to SeatGeek, the average ticket price for Super Bowl 50 now sits at $5,178, well above what we’ve seen in recent years, and they’re only expected to rise from there. Average ticket prices have hiked up to $5,335. The get-in price for the game’s cheapest ticket is $3,279, though past data suggests that number could fall to about $2,400 before kickoff. To make sure that this doesn’t happen Verizon has revealed that it’s spending $70 million on network improvements ahead of Super Bowl 50. This is the first time over the past five years that a Super Bowl ticket’s average price topped as much as $4,000 at this point in the football season. Two lower club seats to the game were purchased on Monday for approximately $28,000 per ticket.
The state of affairs is different from previous year, when both flights and accommodations to Glendale, Arizona, two weeks out from the Super Bowl were relatively reasonable.
“When Super Bowl festivities start in the Bay Area this weekend, attendees will want to share their adventures with friends, family members and strangers who couldn’t score a (very pricey) ticket”.
AT&T has also upgraded or deployed new DASs at 26 other locations, including the airports in San Francisco and Oakland and the the convention centers in Santa Clara and San Francisco. “Bargain-hunting travelers can save up to 50 percent if they are willing to hike more than 20 miles from the stadium in cities such as Oakland or San Bruno compared to closer destinations like San Jose or Mountain View”.
