Jeff Teague drawing interest from New York Knicks?
There are rumors that the Atlanta Hawks could be sending Jeff Teague to the Knicks.
A common desire exists amongst both casual and diehard New York Knicks fans for an improvement at the point guard position.
According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, a new name has surfaced in regards to whom the Knicks are targeting Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague.
As Begley notes, the Knicks don’t have a ton of assets in order to get a deal done, and would likely need a third team in order to get creative enough to pull something like this off. Nevertheless, expect the Knicks to be in mix as Teague continues to be shopped up to the NBA Trade Deadline. At this time, it is unknown how far talks between the Knicks and Hawks have gotten, or if a package has even been offered from NY; all that is known is that the Knicks and Hawks have engaged in conversations the last couple of days. That can never be a bad thing having prior trade experience with a team if you are going to try and make another one.
Although Teague has delivered for the Hawks in many ways this year, Atlanta may want more. He’s on a manageable contract that pays him $8 million per year and will expire after next season. They also have a glut of big men, and could put a player such as Kyle O’Quinn or Kevin Seraphin in the offer.
Teague would give a prompt update at point watch for the playoff-cheerful Knicks, who as of now begin 34-year-old Jose Calderon. Teague would be a great player to run Derek Fisher’s triangle offense. Also, recently the on-court play has gone in Schroder’s favor too and it has led some to wonder whether Schroder should take Teague’s starting spot anyway. Lowe wrote on Tuesday “it’s starting to feel like the Jeff Teague-Dennis Schroder partnership is approaching its breaking point”.
