The New 200 miles per hour Jaguar F-TYPE SVR
Jaguar’s upcoming F-Type SVR has leaked onto the internet after the premature distribution of brochures to a German dealer, first reported on by Dutch vehicle website Autovisie.
According to the brochure, the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine moves from 404kW/680Nm as in the F-Type R, to 423kW at 6500rpm and 700Nm between 3500rpm and 5000rpm. Says John Edwards, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations.
Jaguar released a teaser video that reveals a little of what the auto is going to look like, but the most important thing we get from this video is audio of the SVR under full acceleration, and it sounds absolutely menacing.
Jaguar has revealed its all-new F-Type SVR model ahead of its global debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
The SVR will go on sale in summer 2016.
Lighter and wider wheels are combined with carbon-ceramic brakes to reduce weight by 21kg, while the suspension has been stiffened to help with handling. Bigger intakes up front, larger hood vents, and a sizable rear spoiler mounted to the trunk work in tandem to increase downforce and improve cooling. It will be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and power will be sent to all four wheels.
I’m willing to bet most of you didn’t wake up this morning thinking Jaguar would build a more powerful F-Type. Firstly, that it’ll be available as a coupe and a convertible. It’s a 320km/h, all-weather supercar that you can drive every day, the company promises.
With the phrase “all-weather” being used, we’re guessing it will come equipped with the otherwise optional all-wheel drive system as standard – for those who like sideways antics, there’s always the tyre-frying RWD F-Type R (404kW). Reportedly producing 567bhp, the F-TYPE SVR’s V8 is set to offer a 25bhp improvement over the F-TYPE R.
