Ron Rivera optimistic that Thomas Davis can play in Super Bowl 50
Rivera did not know which forearm bone Davis broke.
The biggest stage in the National Football League (NFL) is set and Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis would not miss it for the world, vowing to play in the Super Bowl despite having a broken right forearm. “If it is at all possible I know they are going to get me back and I will do my part to make sure I’m ready”.
The Super Bowl is less than two weeks away and will be held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on February 7. But he did so with the caveat that he could earn back every penny by getting to and winning Super Bowl 50. When asked if surgery would be required, he shrugged, but insisted he wasn’t bypassing a chance to play in his first Super Bowl.
“Thomas Davis is one of the best players on our team”, Kuechly said, “but he’s an even better person, and I think that’s an important thing with him-who he is, what he represents, and what he stands for”. Before he went out he had made six tackles including two tackles for loss of Cardinals running back David Johnson at times when Johnson looked like he was gaining some momentum with the ground game.
“It has been reported that Davis would play if ‘it’s a pain tolerance issue.’ Without surgery, the ulna is at risk to displace and he would need a long arm cast”.
“I believe in our training staff”, Davis said.
Davis’ teammates praised his toughness and said it’s hard to imagine anyone trying to tell him he couldn’t play in his first Super Bowl after spending his entire career trying to reach this pinnacle.
The Bills announced Monday that quarterback Tyrod Taylor and center Eric Wood are replacing Newton and Kalil.
“I don’t put it past Thomas playing, ” defensive tackle Kawann Short said. He’s been plagued with a lot of them in the regular season, including torn ligaments and broken fingers, but he always finds a way to get to the field in no time. It hasn’t stopped him yet.
