Man arrested with 2 handguns at Disneyland Paris hotel
PARIS-An armed man was detained Thursday afternoon at Disneyland Paris, after trying to enter a hotel at the theme park, French police said.
There are no injuries and the 28-year-old was detained with no resistance after being stopped for a security check.
A woman who was with the man has also been arrested.
Although the man’s intentions are unclear, France remains on high alert following November’s terrorist attacks in Paris.
Police said they were searching for a companion travelling with the man.
Newspaper Le Monde reports the man, believed to be a French native, was spotted by hotel security services when the bag passed through the security gate.
Disneyland Paris, which sits 20-miles east of the French capital, is among Europe’s most-visited tourist attractions.
The man was “detected upon his arrival at the Disneyland hotel where he had a reservation”, the source told AFP, writes James Rothwell and Henry Samuel in Paris.
A spokesman for the amusement park was unable to provide any details of the incident.
