Martina Hingis-Sania Mirza juggernaut continues, reach Australian Open final
The duo, who are on a record winning streak, will next face the 13th seeded German-Czech pair of Julia Goerges and Karolina Pliskova.
The Indo-Swiss pair will meet Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka from the Czech Republic in the summit clash.
Sania and Dodig got off to a sluggish start but fought back brilliantly to take the first set in 44 minutes in a one-sided tie-breaker, where the Indo-Croat pair just blew away their opponents.
Sania Mirza doesn’t leave anything to chance.
Sania is also in contention in the women’s doubles event, where she reached the final partnering Hingis. Serving to save the set, pressure took its toll on Paes who once again faltered with a couple of wayward serves to hand the game, set and match to the top seeded combine.
Hingis and Mirza were awarded the Wimbledon, the US Open titles as well as the season during the ending of WTA finals and have been the prevailing toppers of the circuit during 2015.
On the other side of the draw, Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka reached their first Grand Slam final since reuniting with a see-saw victory over Xu Yi-Fan and Zheng Saisai.
The unseeded winning pair won 59 of the total 112 points played.
In a girls’ singles third round match, Indian 10th seed Pranjala Yadlapalli lost to Russian eighth seed Anastasia Potapova 5-7, 5-7 on Court No.20.
