Nintendo NX Will Reportedly Be a Console and a Handheld
“We expect a small recovery in shipments of flat-panel displays for game devices because of Nintendo’s new game hardware expected to be released in 2016”, said Hiroshi Hayase, a senior principal analyst at IHS Technology, part of IHS, at the firm’s display forum held in Tokyo.
Nintendo is now working on the company’s next console codenamed Nintendo NX.
That Nintendo would launch a handheld and console that works together is already a pretty interesting and thought-provoking assertion. That means that the company is planning an unveiling and a launch this year of handheld device, given the screen sizes.
The speculations started when Emily Roger, an insider from Nintendo, teased on her Twitter account that she, Liam Robertson, a regular contributor at Nintendo Life, and Imran Khan, a freelance writer, have a rumor to share regarding an upcoming game for the Wii U console, noted Gematsu. Hayase expects manufacturing of displays ranging from 3.1 to five inches will increase to 16.5 million units this year, which is up from 14.1 million units last year. However, Hayase did mention that the Nintendo NX will be a standalone device, with its very own native display and full controls.
However, the innovation will be that the handheld NX controller will actually be an independent unit. It’s probable that you will be able to take it anywhere. The fact that you left your house won’t come between you and video games. The Japanese gaming company has not said a single thing officially about the NX.
Of course, any platform is only as successful as the quality of titles it has. When will that be, however, is not entirely known, only estimated.
The mention of “next 12 months” may just be speculative on the estimated time of the console release or it may also be from the knowledge that it actually will and GameStop is not relenting in giving the NX and its accompanying software the right amount of space on the shelf.
More as we get it. This will place it in the same performance category with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
