Marco Rubio Asked to Address Record on Immigration
“As it relates to the super PACs, I have no control over that, and this is beanbag compared to what the Clinton hit machine is going to do to the Republican nominee”, he said.
Mr. Rubio’s ability to answer whether or not he is being disingenuous when he explains why he no longer supports the immigration overhaul he sponsored as a senator is likely to continue to loom large with conservative voters.
Vander Plaats defended his position and said that although he, along with other Republicans, liked Rubio a lot, they just could not see him as a viable president because he looks like 19-years-old and jokied that Rubio may still get even carded when buying liquor. “So did you, Marco”.
Meantime, Right to Rise, which backs Bush, has made the political opportunism argument against Rubio with an ad arguing that “with his record on immigration, how can we trust Rubio on anything?”
Bush then touted a book he wrote called “Immigration Wars” in which he advocates a path to legal status for illegal immigrants. She used a similar series of clips to question Cruz about his an amendment that he attempted to add to the 2013 immigration reform bill that created a path to citizenship.
Once all of that is done, Rubio said, he would see what the American people are “willing to support” for undocumented immigrants.
Rubio argued during the debate that he can be trusted on immigration, and said his first priority on the issue was keeping ISIS out of the country. But it wouldn’t entail deporting all of them or “handing out citizenship cards”, he said.
“That’s why these debates are so important”, he said in a statement.
“Was that all an act?”
“No, I do not support blanket legalization”, Rubio said, shaking his head.
