Principal dies after saving students
The elementary school is offering grief counseling to students.
Not so for Susan Jordan, the principal at an IN elementary school, who died saving the lives of her students Tuesday.
The driver and 25 students on the bus were examined by emergency responders but did not require treatment, Reith said. Two children were hurt.
Two 10-year-old children were also struck and both were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Jordan was a principal at the school for 22 years, and obviously had a passion for children.
“At some point, the stationary bus lurched forward and jumped the kerb”.
Investigators say they’ve checked out the bus and they found nothing mechanically wrong with it.
“Every time I think about it I’m heartbroken, mainly for my daughter, because such an important role model in her life is gone”, Kille told CNN affiliate WISH.
The family is requesting donations to the Susan Jordan Memorial Fund at the Lawrence Township School Foundation. He said the driver showed no visible signs of impairment. It starts at 2 pm and goes until 8 pm.
Thie said Jordan was in her usual position outside Amy Beverland Elementary School, trying to keep order as school let out Tuesday afternoon.
The bus driver, not sure why the bus lurched forward, said, “They just loved her. Up to the minute she was alive, she was helping the kids”.
One of the witnesses, Debbie Thie, said that the bus couldn’t stop and nearly hit the students who were lining up to ride their buses.
