AAP MLA Mahendra Yadav arrested for allegedly assaulting govt official
AAP MLA from Vikaspuri, Mahinder Yadav, who was arrested for allegedly rioting and assaulting a public servant during a protest seeking action against an alleged sexual offender, was on Friday remanded to one-day police custody by a trial court.
Yadav has been booked under sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 186 (obstructing public servant), 353 (criminal force to deter public servant) of the IPC and section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
He will be shortly produced before the Tis Hazari court here.
Yadav and his supporters allegedly created ruckus in Nihal Vihar area while protesting against the rape of the minor girl. “On Friday morning, the SHO reached Yadav’s house and said he needed to talk”.
“We have arrested Yadav and four AAP workers”. He claimed that the protesters manhandled a police team that had tried to pacify them.
Earlier Somnath Bharti was arrested on September 28 in a domestic violence case filed by his wife. They went on to protest despite the rape accused been arrested. While AAP defended Yadav, Congress stated that the MLAs of AAP are not under the control of party. “Is it wrong to ask for justice?” he said. The AAP leader also took a dig at the Centre saying it was not providing funds to Delhi Police to instal CCTV cameras across the city. Delhi still a rape capital.
