Newton’s jersey sales not so super
Odds are, if you aren’t a quarterback you won’t be named Super Bowl MVP, and this year’s cast of players likely to be crowned follows suit.
All eyes are fixated on Peyton Manning, John Elway and company as they prepare to take on the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50. “Norman acknowledged Manning has lost his fastball – saying the Panthers” secondary will “calculate our risks when they come” – but he’s not underestimating motivation by “The Sheriff” for a Super Bowl ride into the sunset. That process, Phillips said, will get the Broncos ready for each way Newton does much of his damage.
“Have Trevathan or Marshall hug up to the line to force the running back to step up into the pocket to block that linebacker, so he can’t get out for that extra outlet pass. That’s one of the ways you try to limit what Cam does”. So I’ve never mentioned that, or we’ve never compared who has more rings.
What Manning said to Belichick is apparently more than he’s told his own coach regarding his thoughts on retirement as this 18th and very trying season comes to a conclusion. “We were done in November, it was over”, Manning said.
It was Kubiak, after all, who asked passing maestro Manning to learn a new “run-first” offense in Denver while allowing the Broncos defense to shoulder a bigger burden. Which, if you watch the game unfold, you see the scoreboard and it’s 7-0, it’s 14-0.
“I’m kind of hoping there are a whole bunch of Panthers fans and Raiders fans who are thinking otherwise though”. Our goal every season is to win the last game, but as I’ve learned, the road to the next one is paved by seasons like this one!
“There’s no bragging rights, ” he said, “because we both know it’s a team effort and about everything going the right way”.
Because the game is played at the end of the season, the week before the Super Bowl, most of the best players in the game won’t play. Why?
“I’m excited for him”, Eli said to Serby.
Several Panthers defenders on Thursday said Manning’s arm strength has not dropped off, a topic that has been debated all season.
Newton acknowledged Wednesday at one of the first pre-Super Bowl press conference the shortcomings he’s had to face ever since entering the league in 2011. “In fact, we’re going to see the age when quarterbacks retire change more and more from when I played”. But he was unwilling to get into heavy discussions about if the Super Bowl could be his final game.
