Tom Hanks & Johnny Depp Are America’s Favorite Movie Stars
According to Variety, Hanks’ name topped the list of the latest Harris Poll that surveyed over 2,200 adults.

20th Century Fox Tom Hanks played a humble, but effective, lawyer in “Bridge of Spies”, which was nominated for best picture in part thanks to his work.
Hanks will get a good chance to defend his spot this year, as he’s next starring as heroic pilot Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger in a biopic directed by Clinton Eastwood.
Neither Hanks nor Depp are up for a best actor Oscar, despite the buzz surrounding their 2015 films when they were first released. Denzel Washington, who recently accepted the Cecil B. Demille Award at the Golden Globes, is number 3.
A new Harris Poll says that for the fifth time in his career, Tom Hanks is America’s favorite movie star.
Although he’s been dead since 1979, John Wayne landed fourth on the list, followed by Harrison Ford, stalwart of the “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones” movies.
The top spot for a female on the poll went to Sandra Bullock who sits at no. 6 on the list, thanks to her unique performance as the villainous character in the animated film Minions and also due to her compelling role as a strategist in the flick Our Brand Is Crisis. Meryl Streep and Angelina Jolie fell off the list, having placed No. 7 and No. 10, respectively, the year prior.
Despite his absence from the movie screen previous year, Denzel Washington is America’s third favorite star. Harrison Ford did, however, take the top spot as Hollywood’s “most bankable” star, as the Independent relays.
