Disgruntled BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha Saturday criticised the Centre’s decision to impose President’s Rule in Arunachal Pradesh, taking potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “great advisors” wondering what answers they will have if the Supreme Court ruled against it.
The Central Government on Friday submitted a reply in the Supreme Court justifying the imposition of President’s rule in Arunachal Pradesh.
Based on reviews, Rajkhowa charged Tuki of public politics by funding protests to find his ouster and provoking tribesmen. The Centre also alleged that the ruling Congress party had links with the underground outlawed outfit NSCN (K) and was using its assistance to pressure the 34 MLAs to withdraw support to rebel party leader Kalikho Pul, who was earlier elected as the new CM in place of Mr Nabam Tuki.
“Governor and his family are apprehending grave danger to their lives. Therefore, in either case, the state is heading for a constitutional crisis”.
“This kind of a report can be tailored for any state”.
The governor had been sending periodic monthly reports from October to December and had in addition sent special reports on October 17, November 19 and December 15, 16 and 17, to the President and Vice-President of India on the alleged deteriorating political and law and order situation.
The Centre also referred to three reports from the governor in January which presented a bleak picture of the state of affairs in Arunachal Pradesh.
