Anjali Ramkissoon, Uber-Driver-Attack Med Student, Is ‘Sorry’
She told Stephanopoulos that it was a particularly trying night for her before the incident: her father was hospitalized earlier in the day, and “just minutes” before the altercation she had broken up with her boyfriend of two years.
After getting major heat since the video’s release, the fourth-year neurology resident appeared on Wednesday’s Good Morning America to apologize for her actions, calling it “the biggest mistake of my life”.
The driver did not press charges and handled the whole situation better than others would have, fending off the belligerent doctor’s attack and asking bystanders to call 911. I have hurt so many people with this. I’m ashamed. I still can’t watch the entire video.
“There’s absolutely no excuse for my actions”, she said.
So, she showed up in ABC News and opened up about this incident by saying that she’s “ashamed” of what she did and that she is exclusively accountable for her misdeed.
“I get it. I did something extremely awful and I’m extremely sorry for it”. The driver, who has not been identified, did not press charges against the Miami doctor and accepted her apology.
Daily Mail UK reports that Ramkissoon blamed a series of bad luck and alcohol consumption for her behavior. “Nothing like this has ever happened”, she said.
Her hospital has suspended her on paid administrative leave while they investigate the incident.
When she refused to get out, Mr Cinco and his friend told the driver to cancel their ride and offered to book another ride home. She said she’s suffered cyberbullying and even her family has been targeted. She’s employed by Jackson Health System. “I’ve received messages telling me that I should kill myself, that I should have been raped that night”.
She said: “No one deserves to be treated that way”. When the driver asked her to get out, her curbside manner was not quite bedside manner. “I’m here to own for what I did”. Every time I look back at it I say could have, should have, would have and in the moment I was just so angry, I wasn’t really thinking and if I could take it back, I would. “The outcome of the investigation will determine whether any disciplinary action will be taken, up to and including termination”. It’s affected my personal life.
“I did something extremely disgusting”, Ramkissoon added.
