Snow and wind warning in place for Saturday
An amber weather warning is in place until 10am today, with strong winds of up to 70mph expected, potentially reaching speeds of 80mph along coastal and elevated areas.
The weather is set to remain unsettled over the next few days, after Storm Gertrude battered the country on Friday with gusts of up to 144mph.
The warning is in place from 17:00 this evening until 08:00 Saturday.
A further yellow warning of snow and ice for Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray from 6pm today until 11am tomorrow has been put out.
It says rain is expected to spread from the west during Thursday, gradually turning heavier and more persistent.
The public were also urged to be aware of hard driving conditions and disruption to travel.
The north of England, the Midlands and Wales also need to watch out for ice, while southern England could expect further spells of heavy rain this morning.
An Amber (Be Prepared) warning for wind and snow comes into force from 6pm tonight until 11am on Saturday, with a Yellow (Be Aware) for wind and snow in place until 6pm tomorrow.
Northern Powergrid said it is still working to restore electricity to 45 customers after some 25,000 homes and businesses had power cuts as a result of Storm Gertrude on Friday.
In Northern Ireland, the storm blew a pet rabbit up on to a roof in Omagh, Co Tyrone.
Scottish Borders Council (SBC) and partners, including Police Scotland, monitored the weather overnight and early this morning and, as is normal during winter, allowed school transport operators to make local decisions based on conditions and associated risks, with a very limited number of routes affected.
