People are questioning the lyrics of Rihanna’s new single, called Work
The 27-year-old singer surprised fans Wednesday morning when she released “Work”, the first single off “Anti”.
Rhianna released “Anti” exclusively on Tidal Thursday, and Samsung gave away one million free download codes on a first-come first-serve basis. A 16-track deluxe version will be released on Friday, 29 January. The new album was initially expected to arrive in late 2015 – first as a Tidal exclusive, then as a wide release.
While the gift download period has now expired, the album is still available for streaming on TIDAL; since last night, ANTI has already been streamed almost 14 million times.
The brief glitch came hours after Rihanna released Work, her new single from the album, featuring Drake. The song isn’t up on YouTube, SoundCloud or Spotify, but is available by visiting Tidal’s homepage and left-clicking on the artwork.
The song was teased earlier this month by both Drake and Rihanna, who previously collaborated on single’s such as his “Take Care” and her “What’s My Name”. Producers and writers talked about the recording process and she tweeted the occasional studio clip, but she didn’t release any new music whatsoever. Anti opens with track “Consideration“, which features SZA and contains the lyric “I got to do things my own way darling”.
So if you’re a Rihanna and/or Drake fan, and you want to listen to Work as soon as possible, you’ll have to go to Tidal or Apple Music.
That leaves up in the air the status of two other songs, “Bitch Better Have My Money”, released in March and “American Oxygen”, which followed in April. You can’t have a Rihanna album without a weed anthem.
