Biden: GOP Presidential Race “A Gift From The Lord”
President Barack Obama signed a presidential memorandum Thursday establishing a White House Task Force on cancer, placing Vice President Joe Biden in charge.
Turning political prognosticator, Biden acknowledged that “it’s been a tough last couple cycles” – an apparent reference to Republican romps in the 2010 and 2014 midterm elections – but insisted that Democrats have “a real shot” to retake Congress.
The Vice President told House Democrats that they need to remind voters this fall about the Obama Administration’s record and “keep pounding” on the policies Republicans in Congress are pushing.
“We’re not going to lead around the world by allowing politicians to insult Muslims or pit groups of Americans against each other”, he said.
“We’re leaving this weekend stronger and more united than we were coming in”, said Rep. Ben Ray Lujan, D-N.M., chairman of the Democratic campaign committee, who added that the party has a “foundation to build from as opposed to tearing that apart”. “That’s not keeping America safe”.
“There’s a lot of noise and a lot of talk about America in decline”, he said. “As Democrats”, he said, “we believe in science-I know it’s a radical proposition”. “Wanted to go in a different direction and he claimed that our policies would crush jobs and destroy the economy” Obama said. “Do people remember that?” He promised action on Puerto Rico’s fiscal crisis. Bernie Sanders for the Democratic presidential nomination, and instead piled on the divisions among Republicans.
Ryan’s spokesman, Doug Andres, said that Republicans have taken control of the House and grown their majority in the years since Ryan first proposed his budget. Republicans now outnumber them 247-188, a number that includes a vacant GOP district in OH that the party seems certain to retain.
President Obama on Thursday urged House Democrats to embrace the accomplishments of his administration, arguing the country is better off than when he took office seven years ago and voters will respond to that message when they head to the polls later this year. A prodigious fundraiser, Pelosi held 205 fundraisers in 35 cities.
