Mario Suarez joins Watford
And they are set to be joined by another new arrival before the close of the transfer window on Monday as Sanchez Flores confirmed a deal for Fiorentina’s Mario Suarez is close to going through.
Championship side Forest will take on Premier League outfit Watford in the fourth round of the prestigious cup competition at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon.
Back in Madrid, where he spent one season under current Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores, he played 180 games in five years and won Primera Division, Europa League and Copa del Rey winners’ medals. After two successful seasons, Atletico Madrid signed their former youth product in a €1.8m deal.
Suarez made 121 appearances during his time at Vicente Calderon but has played only 13 times for Fiorentina since joining the Italian club in July previous year.
“It was very important to keep the ball and to focus on the transitions, and I think we had control”.
Make no mistake about it, the Watford players come into this game full of confidence and in much better spirits after stopping a run of four league defeats with a 2-1 win over Newcastle last weekend.
“The players are really clever and they have a lot of information”. They have been performing well above expectations in the Premier League, with Quique Flores guiding the team to tenth in the Premier League.
