Arsenal draw Hull City for third season running in FA Cup
The draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup was made on Sunday evening and set up a mouth-watering encounter.
LONDON (AP) – Chelsea will host Manchester City in the last 16 of the FA Cup, while Manchester United travels to third-tier Shrewsbury, the lowest-placed team left in the competition.
Guus Hiddink’s side have got little reward for their 5-1 hammering of MK Dons, earning a home tie against Manchester City, who crushed Aston Villa 4-0 on Saturday.
Hiddink won the FA Cup with Chelsea during his first spell as interim manager in 2009 and has seen them improve since the sacking of Jose Mourinho in December.
The Gunners, on the other hand, narrowly beat Hull’s Championship promotion rivals Burnley 2-1 thanks to goals from Calum Chambers and Alexis Sanchez, either side of an equaliser from Welsh global Sam Vokes.
The draw: Chelsea v Manchester City; Reading (II) v West Bromwich Albion or Peterborough (III); Watford v Leeds United (II); Shrewsbury Town (III) v Manchester United; Blackburn Rovers (II) v Liverpool or West Ham United; Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace; Arsenal v Hull City (II), Bournemouth v Everton.
The fifth-round ties will be played across the weekend of Friday, February 19, to Monday, February 22.
Chelsea have only won one of the five FA Cup meetings against City, with the last clash in the competition ending in a 2-0 win for Manuel Pellegrini’s men back in 2014.
Hull defeated League One side Bury 3-1 in the fourth round thanks to a hat-trick from Arsenal loanee Chuba Akpom but the youngster will be ineligible for the Tigers’ trip to the Emirates due to Arsenal being his parent club, as will fellow loanee Isaac Hayden.
