Apple recalls wall charger power adaptors
After worrying sales figures and a lengthy Safari outage, the company is recalling millions of power adapters because they could cause an electric shock.
Before exchanging the wall plug adapter, be sure to also have the serial number handy of the Apple device it was shipped with, Apple advised.
In a statement released on their web site, Apple has expressed that customer safety remains their utmost priority.
However, only some countries namely Australia, Korea, New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina and those in Continental Europe have been affected by the faulty adapters.
These adapters were sold with Mac computers, Apple mobile gadgets and in an Apple World Travel Adapter Kit between 2003 and 2015.
As part of the recall, Apple is offering to replace the affected adapters free of charge with others that have been redesigned and are therefore not prone to breakage. Neither are USB power adapters by Apple.
Customers will be able to exchange their adapters for a redesigned ones at an Apple store, where it’s recommended they schedule a Genius Bar appointment, or at an authorized Apple Service Provider.
Widespread reports of Apple’s Safari browser crashing on iOS devices and Macs emerged this week, but Apple reportedly has fixed the issue just as it geared up to deal with another problem – a recall of its AC wall plug adapters. Customers can identify their chargers to see if they are faulty on Apple’s official website, apple.com, which has detailed, labeled pictures to make identification easier.
