Clinton tries to bowl over Iowa as Sanders surges
His rallies have been flooded by enthusiastic supporters, many of them young people, but polls show rival Hillary Clinton has more support among Democratic voters who have participated in the caucuses before.
In a speech at Liberty University, Sanders said that, although not religious, he has been “motivated by a vision which exists in all of the great religions – in Christianity, in Judaism, in Islam, Buddhism and other religions – and which is so beautifully and clearly stated in Matthew 7:12”. “Democrats will win in November and we will have a Democratic president succeeding me”.
“Quite frankly, the most important foreign affairs move that happened in my lifetime, the vote to go into Iraq, she failed me”, Sarandon responded, referring to Clinton’s affirmative vote for the Iraq War. Both (former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley) and I have agreed, and we’re waiting for (Sanders) to decide to join us.
“From the beginning of this campaign Sen”. Secretary Clinton has not.
“The answer is obvious”.
The president said his party would stay united, even as Clinton has become tangled in a close race with Sen. “Sanders has significant momentum”, Weaver said.
A survey conducted by NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist among likely Iowa caucus-goers shows Clinton with 48 percent support and Sanders at 45 percent – a lead within the poll’s margin of error of 4.7 percent. “But Bernie Sanders is the most qualified candidate to create the political system we should have, because he’s leading a political movement for change”. The campaign also stipulated that none be held on a Friday, Saturday or holiday weekend, when the number of potential viewers typically dips. In response to Sanders’ criticism, the Clinton campaign pointed out that she also met with African-American ministers in the city, prior to her fundraiser. According to the president in a recent statement, Clinton is “extraordinarily experienced … and wicked smart and knows every policy inside and out”, he told Politico last Monday.
Clinton’s campaign has accused Sanders of breaking his pledge not to run negative advertising. “And all of the three Democratic candidates must be invited”, he stipulated.
“We have no plans to sanction any further debates before the upcoming first-in-the-nation caucuses and primary, but will reconvene with our campaigns after those two contests to review our schedule”, DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said in response to the proposed debate.
“We are not going to engage in a process where the only time we schedule debates is when the Clinton campaign feels that they are under pressure and they need to have another debate”, he added on MSNBC Thursday.
