Louis CK releases surprise new web series, Horace and Pete
The show itself was released yesterday, taking fans by surprise. How many episodes will there be?
Gothamist reports that the episode sports a theme song by Paul Simon and resembles a dramatic play, “with an emphasis on the depressing realities of life for barflies and bartending lifers”.
If you’ve got a fiver, an hour to kill and a yen for discussion of the human condition, Louis C.K. has just the thing for you.
The debut of “Horace and Pete” came with no advance notice from the Emmy-winning comedian, who posted it on his website for $5. “Go here to watch it. We hope you like it. Regards, Louis”.
Continue checking BroadwayWorld as we keep you up to date on this exciting developing story, and check out stills from the show below! There’s no description or explanation of what the series is about, but the first episode is 67 minutes long, was written and directed by C.K., takes place in a Brooklyn bar, and is staged like a play. Louis CK’s other series, Louie – which he writes, directs, edits, and stars in – is now on hiatus. (In television terms, what this most resembles is a soap opera.) But even at its most obvious or ungainly, it’s never less than interesting, and it’s certainly not shy of conviction; no C.K. fan with an Internet connection and $5 to spare will want to pass it by. Since 2013, he has released seven shows and one feature film through his website. Rolling Stone ranked C.K.’s stand-up special Shameless number three on their “Divine Comedy: 25 Best Stand-Up Specials and Movies of All Time”.
