Apple is working on wireless charging technology for the iPhone
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus may have wireless charging technology sources “familiar with the plans” told Bloomberg News. Now, according to Bloomberg, Apple iPhones could soon come with a new long-distance wireless charging capabilities that doesn’t require the phone to be placed on a charging pad.
Japanese newspaper Nikkei has revealed (via AI) that Apple has recently started mass production of the smaller iPhone, ahead of the official launch expected to take place in March.
But unlike the wireless charging technology that’s already a part of the Samsung Galaxy S6, Apple’s tech might not require a special mat to charge its phones or tablets.
According to the report Apple is rolling out wireless charging over a distance as early as 2017 in the iPhone 7S.
The iPhone was clearly a revolutionary device, but Apple has sometimes struggled to differentiate its iconic handset with high-end Android devices in recent years.
Wireless charging technology does have its limits, with its biggest factor being speed.
Apple on Thursday announced a recall of 12 years’ worth of wall plug adapters it sold outside the United States, warning of the risk of electric shock. But hold on. Other brands required you to put the phone on a charging mat, but not this brand. But the Cupertino company is working relentlessly to introduce innovative technologies in its next-gen iPhones to boost sales.
With the cutting edge wireless charging technology and the all-in-one lightning connector, Apple might further widen the gap between them and their rivals.
What is worth mentioning here is the fact that Apple applied for a patent in late 2012. You’ll still need to be near a charging hub; the farther away you move, the less charge you’ll get.
