Future iPhones might support wireless charging using new tech
High profile Apple analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray went as far as panning the idea, saying a hypothetical iPhone “6C” wouldn’t change Apple’s profits. Currently, the Apple Watch can charge “wirelessly” off an inductive coil inside the device that receives power through a Magnetic Charging Cable.
Further, people in the company who asked not to be identified, stated that the company is now working towards eliminating technical barriers, including the loss of power over distance.
We should note, Bloomberg’s track record is pretty good when it comes to reports on Apple’s plans, but rumors are just that: rumors.
Japanese newspaper Nikkei has revealed (via AI) that Apple has recently started mass production of the smaller iPhone, ahead of the official launch expected to take place in March.
The company’s working is under wraps and prototype stage being developed in partnership with USA and Asia. This kind of technology does fit the description of what is being reported and would certainly meet the definition of a “Breakthrough” in wireless charging technology.
The reason we’re bringing all of this up again, is because more recent information also suggests that we’ll be seeing a new iPhone with a dual camera set-up.
Any upcoming new devices from Apple are certainly targeting increased sales for the company, which is seeing sales slowdowns globally for some of its most popular devices, such as iPhones and iPads, according to Apple’s latest quarterly sales figures, which were released January 26.
Bloomberg’s sources said the technology could be deployed on its mobile devices as soon as next year.
The wireless charging technology is not a new concept, especially since Samsung, Sony, and Google have implemented such feature to their smartphones.
