MSNBC to host Democratic debate Thursday in New Hampshire
Negotiations for additional Democratic presidential debates went into extra innings this weekend, with Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders agreeing to four more, including one in New Hampshire.
“We have consistently worked with our campaigns to ensure a schedule that is robust and that allows them to engage with voters in a variety of ways, whether through debates, forums, town halls, but also leaving them the flexibility to attend county fairs and living room conversations in states like Iowa and New Hampshire where direct voter contact matters so much.”
The committee is apparently in the process of putting more debates in the lineup with the agreement of the candidates.
Mrs. Wasserman Schultz, who had set the schedule of just six debates and had repeatedly shot down calls to reconsider, said in a statement Sunday that she now realizes there will have to be more debates than she’d wanted.
“We’ve agreed to an additional debate in NH and are now in discussions to agree to additional debates – we think one of them should be in Flint”, said Clinton campaign chair John Podesta.

Both Sanders and O’Malley have slammed the DNC for the lack of debates, especially when compared to the number of GOP debates scheduled, and for holding the debates on weekends, when fewer viewers are likely to be in front of a television.
Speaking last Wednesday to MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, Clinton said she looks forward to Thursday’s proposed debate. Sanders has opened up a considerable lead over Clinton in the state.
Clinton and Sanders are in a tight race before Monday’s Iowa caucuses, and Clinton trails the Vermont senator in New Hampshire, raising the possibility that the Democratic front-runner could lose the first two contests.
