Royals discuss Queen in 90th birthday documentary
The film, to be shown this spring and titled The Queen At Ninety (working title), is a two hours long film featuring interviews from many key figures in Her Majesty’s life, including her son Prince Charles, his wife Camilla and Prince William and Kate.
Elaine Bedell, ITV’s Director of Entertainment and Comedy, added: “We are delighted to be celebrating Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday with this stunning evening of entertainment”.
That will be followed on the Saturday by the Trooping the Colour ceremony, with the weekend celebrations coming to a close on Sunday with the Patron’s Lunch on The Mall, where 10,000 people will gather to celebrate the Queen’s patronage of more than 600 charities and organisations.
The BBC has said it will broadcast live from each of the three events.
The corporation also promises a BBC One documentary, documentaries on Radio 2 and the World Service, and coverage on BBC News outlets around the country.
Kate Middleton has given her first solo television interview since marrying Prince William in 2011. The event will see the best of British talent join more than 900 horses and 1500 participants for what is expected to be a spectacular evening.
ITV are broadcasting the festivities, and they’ve thrown in telly favourites Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly to oversee proceedings.
And the pageant looks like it’ll be anything but run-of-the-mill, with a host of famous faces attending plus performers from The Fijian Army Dancers and Band to the Azerbaijan Cossack Riders taking centre stage.
Ant and Dec said they were “honoured”.
Additionally, it has been rumoured that Prince William, 33, will take over as patron of the Football Association, while the Countess of Wessex will also share the load with a major new role.
