READ What Aguero Told Messi Over Manchester City
Sergio Aguero scored twice for Manchester City on Saturday.
A point at Upton Park is not a bad result, particularly when you consider West Ham are themselves pushing for a top-four finish, but City have now managed just one league away win since September 12.
“I think the pressure is part of [it] – you can not be in a big team if you don’t feel the pressure every week that you must to win the title”, Pellegrini told a news conference.
“We are fighting for the title, we are involved in all the competitions with a lot of injuries so it’s very important to have him 100 percent fit”.
“But we have a squad which is the reason why we are fighting for the title”.
Agureo, who also hit the post, hauled the visitors level after he had been tripped in the area by Carl Jenkinson, coolly sending Adrian the wrong way from the penalty spot. “We lost with a throw-in after Fabian Delph had shot to the post it comes in the next play and that brought the goal”.
Michail Antonio’s quickly-taken throw-in, of all things, caught the City defence napping and Valencia brushed off Nicolas Otamendi’s feeble challenge before prodding the ball past Hart.
“We were not very concentrated”, Pellegrini said. We knew before game he has long throw-in.
“We didn’t see Joe Hart work too much in the second half”, he said.
“When we entered the dressing room the staff and myself we felt a little bit disappointed but that is good because it shows how well we’ve played”, he explained.
However, West Ham almost snatched three points in stoppage time, but Cheikhou Kouyate’s header crashed against the upright, as both sides settled for a point.
“They beat us here at home earlier this season in a match I think we had 20 chances to score but we didn’t do it”.
Manchester City will fancy their chances of taking all three points in this tie but know they are going to have to be at their best to do so. The 28-year-old is the Hammers’ star man, and since arriving from Marseille last summer, the attacking midfielder has acclimatised to the rigours of Premier League football perfectly – cementing his place in the first-team perfectly as one of their most important players. “We are the team that has scored the most goals and we must make sure this continues”.
Bilic said: “It’s not a weakness of the top teams – it’s the strength of the other teams”.
