Kanye West “SNL” Performance Coming February 13
The rapper is set to as Saturday Night Live’s musical guest for the NBC late-night show’s February 13 edition, the network announced Friday.
All excitement for Kanye aside, this should be a pretty solid episode of SNL, as McCarthy’s former stint on the show was pretty great, especially in relation to what has recently been deemed acceptable as the “standard” for SNL.
The rapper has also been busy with other works, including his newest album, Waves, which releases on February 11, only two days before his SNL appearance.
Likewise, musician Kanye West has made an impact on SNL with several appearances, including the show’s 40th anniversary special in 2015. Fridays, a release date for his long-awaited seventh LP, a new album title and a weird feud with Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose. However, it’s not surprising that the Mike & Molly star has been invited back to host, since her past appearances on the show have spawned hits like her topical take on an abusive basketball coach and a flying Kung-fu monologue. The 1975 will be performing on February 6 with host Larry David.
What’s also interesting about this gig for Melissa is that it’s a reunion-of-sorts now with her “Ghostbusters” cast members Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon; the three filmed the movie with “SNL” alum Kristen Wiig over the summer.
