Vanity Fair Cover Shows Diverse Cast Of Female Actresses
With the ongoing outcry of #OscarsSoWhite and criticisms over it’s lack of diversity now plaguing the industry, the cover is a powerful statement of inclusiveness.
Fame photographer Annie Leibovitz shot the cover as well as the other photos for the annual Hollywood issue.
“Measured by years, awards, or performances, they’re dazzling to behold”, says a magazine summary about the leading women.
As if we needed further proof of Diane Keaton’s brilliance, she’s stolen the show on the latest Vanity Fair Hollywood cover.
Lest you think the magazine is being terribly misandrist, take heart: James Walcott was tapped to write the tributes to each actress and her career that are featured inside the mag.
Also featured in the spread are nominated actresses Brie Larson and Charlotte Rampling, Rachel Weisz, Lupita Nyong’o, Alicia Vikander, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Helen Mirren, Saoirse Ronan, and Diane Keaton (who’s already sparked memes with her no f-ks given style and pose at the end there).
This year’s cover is far more diverse than last year’s issue, which only featured two actors of colour: David Oyelowo and Oscar Isaac.
The women range in age from 21 to 78, and, together, have earned 35 Oscar nominations and nine wins.
Vanity Fair just released this year’s “Hollywood Issue”, and it is garnering a lot of attention.
